Have you ever seen the Langhe in the fall? The landscape changes, some products change, but coming here in this season is the best opportunity to enjoy thoroughly this area in a different way.
During October, the interest in food grows pretty intensely, in fact it’s the harvest season for the Alba White Truffle. The town of Alba, considered the Langhe’s capital, hosts each year, between October and November, the International Alba White Truffle Fair, one of the most important events related to the world of gastronomy in Italy.
Autumn is also the season of Barolo, the great wine produced in hillside vineyards from several villages southwest of Alba: La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba and Barolo itself. As truffle season comes, so do the fall mists that are said to have given the late-harvested Barolo grape variety, Nebbiolo, its name. (“Nebbia” means fog in Italian.)
We have created the best itinerary to enjoy Piemonte and its enogastronomy during this incredible period of the year.
Together with the Italian Master Sommelier Roger Bissell you would be part of a unique and exclusive tour in order to discover the magics of the Langhe and Monferrato wines.
Visiting a winery means entering into direct contact with the territory, embracing its culture, its traditions and the community that lives there, thus you would be guided in the finest cellars directly by Mr. Bissell and THE ITALIAN TROTTER Team. Wine is going to be the focus of this tour, by visiting 6 incredible wineries and tasting premium bottles from delicate Spumante wine to full-body Barolos and Barbarescos.
The tour goes from the 9th to the 17th of October 2020, for the entire journey you would stay in a comfortable high-end hotel in the heart of the Langhe region. The itinerary includes all private transfers from/to the Hotel for the planned visits and dinners, plus a private transfer from/to the airport with a personal English speaking driver.
You would try the local cuisine in all the possible ways, from dining into typical Osterias, Trattorias, Piolas, to gourmet and even Michelin Restaurants.
Furthermore you will participate to a hands-on cooking class and learn how to prepare the most iconic dish: the mythical tajarin – a kind of egg pasta typical of the whole Piedmont region.
You will also experience a white truffle hunt on the hills and through the woods of the Langhe region, being driven by the Truffle hunter (Trifulau in piedmontese dialect) and his inseparable dog. A very exciting and true adventure, learning all the secrets, the life and progress of this rare treasure (tartufo bianco d’Alba – Tuber magnatum pico), surrounded by indigenous trees and flowers, in marly and calcareous land.
Activities will involve wine even through a fun painting class using Barolo wine and a corkscrew museum visit! Of course the Barolo’s medieval castle and the Barolo Chapel are a must too.
The tour is exclusive because each visit and activity would be organized for your group only. In order to give you the best service, we make all necessary arrangements upon confirmation, for just one group per tour.
